Salamon Benardete

Salamon Benardete is Aaron's grandfather.
He was born in 1875, in Canakkale, Turkey, to Mair and Sara Benardete.
He had two brothers, Yosef and Yermiya, and one sister, Lea.

During World War I, the Benardete family wanted to get away from the war and moved from Canakkale to a small village called Biga. Afterwards they moved from Biga to Bursa.

He married Roza Penso. She died about 20 years after the marriage. They had no children.

After death of his wife, he married Kadem Flora Saban, in about 1915. They had eight children: Roza, Sara (my mother), Mair, Vito, Korin, Nisim, Inez and Yosef.

His title was "Hadji" (this is a title in Turkish. It would be given to persons who visited the Holy Places, and in the case of Jews, Jerusalem).

Salamon Benardete was a merchant of pearls and gold coins/ornaments.

He died in 1951, in Bursa, Turkey.

My grandmother Kadem Benardete died in 1970, in Ramat Gan, Israel.
